Hand-Holding
An American, visiting a different country, was amazed by the sight of so many men holding hands.
She exclaimed to her friend, a native, "Wow! I am so glad homosexuality is openly celebrated in this country."
Her friend flinched. "What are you talking about? We don't have any of that stuff here!"
"But...but...what about the hand-holding?"
"That's no big deal! Men hold hands all over the world!

What have we done?
Just what have we done?
We have suppresed our sexuality so much that we have ironically sexualized what is not sexual at all.
We have eroticized and romanticized something as simple and beautiful as hand-holding.
Men don't hold hands with men.
And men don't hold hands with women either, unless it's a couple.
And for a man to hold hands with a woman is supposed to be a 'milestone' which he reaches only when he is dating her - never when he is only friends with her.
What have we done?
Just what have we done?
This why I consider myself extremely blessed to have met an amazing woman last year, who is one of the most heart-centered, open, loving, sweet and absolutely adorable people I have met in my entire life - and who holds hands with everyone. Holding hands with her was never a milestone for me - it was just something simple, natural, and beautiful. Whenever I am with her, my heart expands, my light shines more brightly, and I can see the light and love of others more easily.
