Hand-Holding
An American, visiting a different country, was amazed by the sight of so many men holding hands.
She exclaimed to her friend, a native, "Wow! I am so glad homosexuality is openly celebrated in this country."
Her friend flinched. "What are you talking about? We don't have any of that stuff here!"
"But...but...what about the hand-holding?"
"That's no big deal! Men hold hands all over the world!

What have we done?
Just what have we done?
We have suppresed our sexuality so much that we have ironically sexualized what is not sexual at all.
We have eroticized and romanticized something as simple and beautiful as hand-holding.
Men don't hold hands with men.
And men don't hold hands with women either, unless it's a couple.
And for a man to hold hands with a woman is supposed to be a 'milestone' which he reaches only when he is dating her - never when he is only friends with her.
What have we done?
Just what have we done?
This why I consider myself extremely blessed to have met an amazing woman last year, who is one of the most heart-centered, open, loving, sweet and absolutely adorable people I have met in my entire life - and who holds hands with everyone. Holding hands with her was never a milestone for me - it was just something simple, natural, and beautiful. Whenever I am with her, my heart expands, my light shines more brightly, and I can see the light and love of others more easily.

Five seeds and a HUGE right on!
Blessings, David
Beautiful! I find myself wanting to caress people's faces to show them that they are Loved.
I've done this a few times, but like the hand holding it just hasn't been deemed as appropriate to do unless you're dating the person.
And yet I find myself wanting to look into the eyes of another and drawn them in with my hands on their face so they can see and feel that Love is all there is. Perhaps someday
I will do this more frequently because my Soul longs to. :-)
It's interesting to note that American women say, “I want Love” when they really mean “I want a boyfriend.”
This is very revealing language, I think. They have love from family, friends and coworkers, and yet they feel that they don't have love. I think we have made love, and so many acts of love, to be something that is exclusive - something you can only do when you are dating someone, and so it feels like you can neither give nor receive love unless you have a boyfriend or girlfriend - yes, I understand there are other ways to give and receive love, but touch is a big part of it. This taboo against touch is especially suffocating for a woman, since a woman IS love - a man is focused consciousness, but a woman IS love. It can also be suffocating for touch-feely heart-centered guys like me.
This is why courageous women like Jeannie, described above, who are being the change, are so admirable and inspiring to me.
I know for me personally I longed for Love and found it with a man because I didn't come from a loving family at all. So I grew up feeling that I was missing out on something and my little heart yearned to feel Loved by someone. To have a companion in my life everyday. Family and friends are nice, but there's something extra special about having a relationship with someone. You grow and you learn together if you're not too stubborn or willing to throw in the towel because things get rough.
I have quite a few friends now and we tell each other we love one another often. We hug each other and gaze into each other's eyes as we twinkle from the Love within. Times are definitely changing and I'm loving it! The planet IS shifting and people really are loving one another more.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, Kudan :-)
Oh Lisha! I am so happy for you! Yeah, the people at the local NDE/Out of Body/Spiritually Transformative Experiences Support group are indeed also like this and very loving - probably because they have seen, felt, heard and experienced Truth - the Truth of Love. A few people at the two Course in Miracles groups that I go to, and the Oneness Blessing/Deeksha Givers are also like this.
Thanks for sharing too!
